Searched but can't find the location to install a child seat anchor kit for the teather strap. Now I am wondering if back in 1987 they even manufactured a location for the bolt to screw into?

Anybody know or have advice. My car just runs around town but I'd like to install the teather strap if possible.

Yours is a wagon? Try on the floor just behind the seat. On my 89 sedan there are little plastic covers over the threaded inserts on the back dash behind the head rests. I have never had a wagon. The information is in my owners manual, do you have one?

Unfortunately, 87 doesn't have the anchors. none of mine have anyway. My 89 and 90 did though.

 

IIRC, on the 87, if you lift the carpet, you can see 3 spots where the anchors go in later years.

Looks like they only had them 89 and up from what the dealer is telling me.

I ordered one and am going to try to find a spot or I am going to tap in somewhere. It will be better than nothing.
