So, a friend is parting out his XT6. Its FWD. I want to use parts off of it to do a 5-lug swap to my 4WD XT Turbo. From what I've read, the fronts are the same.

 

However, the only thing I've read about the rears, is the rotors are different. Can I use all the other parts I need from except for the rotors? If need be, I guess I can buy new rotors (though I found them to be quite expensive)

The rear hubs are actually the big difference. Nowhere to put an axle on FWD rear hubs;)

 

Also, and this may not be the same every time, but it has been my observation that the main bolt that holds the front control arm to the subframe... the 2wd XT6 uses a bigger bolt than the 4wd. I had to ream out the holes a little when I did mine.

id check to make sure the axle's will work (25 spline) but everything else in the front should work.. the backing plate in the rear should also work but, i believe the rotor and hub is different.. you can use the rear caliper from your xt though..

As for the bolt difference on the control arm, Calebz is right. All the 5-lug conversions I've done, I've had to drill out the hole with a 1/2" drillbit, then mount the control arm in there using the original bolt for the EA82 control arm but with washers on either side on the outside of the control arm, then welding them in place at the bottom of the hole. Works great and the wagon I've done it on prior to my RX, has taken a few trips from Wyoming to Oregon, a couple rallycrosses, and has been done for about 2 1/2 years now.

The only thing you need to do to the rear backing plate is to enlargen the hole in the center so that it slides over the 4WD rear axle bearing housing. It has been done by several here on the board and works just fine.

in the rear you can use the rotors that you already have, but I believe the rear FWD rotors will work on a 4WD axle.
