hutch85
02 Legacy L Wagon 5MT. I have been experiencing some shudder, hesitation, lack of power, indecisive, inconsistent, etc behavior recently. I notice it most when I am holding a speed, more noticeable at lower speed. It feels like the engine will suddenly pull a little bit or shudder. I am mechanically challenged in most respects so simple answers are best. Thanks for any help. Oil has been changed regularly, all maintenance is up to date. Only new thing is a bottle of fuel additive that was in my last tank of gas. New tank of gas now.

Hotshot
Replaced the plugs and wires recently? Solved a similar problem for me a while back.
hutch85
Not sure when they were changed. Not real recently as far as I know. Is this something that would be fairly easy for me to fix. DIY for a noob? Cost? Thanks for your help.
operose
changing plugs and wires is pretty easy... open the hood and follow the spark plug wires... you'll find the spark plugs remove those, and put in new ones being careful not to cross-thread the new ones as you install them plug wires should "pop" off at both ends
hohieu
I guess you should start with the easy maintenance items before moving on to more expensive stuff: Did you use OEM plug wires? How about your fuel filter?
Setright
Plug wires are a cinch. Plugs themselves a little harder - and they require an experienced hand.
