  1. Have this same problem with my 02 Legacy wagon. It has been going on for about 5 months. I have had it diagnosed and cleared a few times as being the catylitic converter. Performance has been fine except for a few as you mentioned, drops in rpms at stops. My mechanic told me to hold out for as long as I can given the cost of a replacemtn cat.
  2. http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/pts/222038800.html I have been looking for some winter tires for my 02 Legacy L Wagon, Would these be better than the all seasons that I am using now for snow and ice? (snowboard season trips over the pass). If these would work would I be able to just replace the one tire or do all have to be replaced at once? Any help would be great. Thanks
  3. Saw the one at Carters. 360's are the . I would love to get one someday.
  4. I have this same problem on my 02 leggy wagon everyone once in a while. I always solved it by playing with the spring on the pedal. Just look underneath where the pedals are and you will see the spring that works on the clutch pedal. Just playing with it seemed to fix it. I am mechanically inept so I have no idea what I am doing down there what what the spring does but it always works. Good luck.
  5. Not sure when they were changed. Not real recently as far as I know. Is this something that would be fairly easy for me to fix. DIY for a noob? Cost? Thanks for your help.
  6. 02 Legacy L Wagon 5MT. I have been experiencing some shudder, hesitation, lack of power, indecisive, inconsistent, etc behavior recently. I notice it most when I am holding a speed, more noticeable at lower speed. It feels like the engine will suddenly pull a little bit or shudder. I am mechanically challenged in most respects so simple answers are best. Thanks for any help. Oil has been changed regularly, all maintenance is up to date. Only new thing is a bottle of fuel additive that was in my last tank of gas. New tank of gas now.
  7. I have an 02 Legacy L wagon MT and pull a 16' boat with 115 hp motor, probably weighs more than what you're talking about and the car handles it fine. Gas mileage drop was neglible too!
  8. Hey everybody, came across this on NASIOC, might be a repost. Possible pictures of upcoming legacy? I have no idea. Looks hot to me. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...=997929&page=3
  9. Gnuman dont worry, I am unfortunately his brother. A forum insult seemed especially amusing.
  10. I agree, sideways is better. Sometimes not when you don't expect it though. Coming back from snowboarding and was probably going to fast. I came into a turn with concrete dividers on one side and a huge snow embankment on the other. Suddenly the car gently fishtailed so that I was going almost perpendicular to the curve. With very little experience in such a situation I managed to make it through the rest of the curve like that, constantly shouting "I GOT IT I GOT IT" to my passenger. Scary during, but incredible feeling afterward. My point is just reiterating the ease of Subaru's in sideways motion.
  11. I find a pretty good site with a lot of information on paint finishes and also some interior vinyl care and tire care. I think I will try the 3M Imperial Hand Glaze and see how that works. If you want the site is: http://www.carcareonline.com/howto.aspx He seems to know what he is talking about. Thanks for the reply.
  12. I have an 02 Legacy Wagon and I too have wondered about this possiblity. Though I am sure it is out of my financial and mechanical ability limitations.
  13. Looking at the dark blue hood on my 02 Legacy Wagon I cannot help but notice the many tiny rock chips and scratches. I am talking about hundred of the little marks that are only really visible up close but together make the hood not look its best. Does anyone have any suggestions on some sort of wax or compound to buff out these tiny scratches and swirl marks. I am beyond filling them in individually but was wondering if there was treatment that I could apply to the hood. Thanks
  14. My brother is looking into Foresters and I thought I remember there being a Forester devoted website that was decent, something like NASIOC. I did a search but didn't find anything. Anyone know one?
  15. I got a hitch put on my 2002 Legacy Wagon no problem. I tow a boat that sounds very similar to yours. My hitch was put in by a place called R V Hitches 'N Welding. It is in Olympia, WA so not much help for you in Maryland. Their number is (360) 456-6100 if you'd like to give them a call. I am sure though that any place that installs hitches on cars could tell you what you need. Good luck.
  16. Thanks everyone for your help. Sounds like the best idea then is to take it in to my mechanic and have him check out the rotors. I know that nothing has ever been done to them so I wouldn't be surprised if a replacement was in order. Thanks again.
  17. I have noticed that when braking at speeds over 60 m.p.h in my 02 Legacy Wagon that the steering wheel shudders back and forth. I notice it more when there are more people in the car also. It is a manual if that matters. Any thoughts or is this just normal behavior?
  18. I would like to add foglights to my 2002 Legacy L wagon. Not sure what is required for installation or where I should look. If it makes a big difference I am also thinking about doing a brush guard. Any suggestions on these would also be helpful. Thanks
  19. Hi, I am new to this forum site. I have a 2002 Subaru Legacy L wgn. My father turned me on to subarus and I inherited this car when he passed away. I am looking to get into working on subarus. Are there any simple beginner type things I can do to this car to increase performance or anything like that. I appreciate any help. Thank you.
