cd45
I have a 1987 Gl Wagon, 1.8, carbed, no turbo, 5sp, D/R. I need to get the A/C fixed. I want to change it to R134, so I can keep it charged myself. I called the local parts stores looking for a new drier, and no one has what I need. The one in the car has a switch at the top and the lines are 180 degrees away from each other. The local stores have one without a switch, and the lines are only 90 degrees out. If anyone has any ideas, please help.
NorthWet
All of my "L"-series have the 90 degree style. Did the Parts guys grab a book and trying matching yours to the illustrations? I have a NAPA Temperature Control book with lots of illustrations and several listings for Subarus around that year. If you can post a pic I can see if I can match to the book. *edit* - My guess would be NAPA 208651 (83-84 Subaru) DIA: 2-3/4in, Length: 7-1/4in, 16mm male fittings 180deg apart, site glass and 2 switch ports, no mounting flange. Tell me where its not right and I can try again

Sonicfrog
I fixed and converted mine this summer (frozen compressor, change o-rings), and I used the old dryer. This was two months ago and so far so good. I would make sure you change all o-rings and pull a vacuum on the system.
