EA81 Lift?

Featured Replies

I am planning on doing a three inch lift for my EA81 1987 hatchback and I was wondering where the best places are for a good quality lift kit?

I have seen a couple of sites with very different prices but their designs don't seem to be much different. Not sure if they are actually different.

Also, I have access to a backyard machanic who could possibly build a lift for me. Is this a better way to go, as far as quality and price are concerned.

Thanks

You'll find there isn't much different in the look of lift kits as they all do the same thing. Some do it slightly different, but at this point in time I would say go the PK 3.5" lift. AA seem to be charging lots perhaps because they don't want to make them anymore. You could also try SJR. They have the most different lift I've seen.

My bro, his mate, and I made a lift for both a 83 and an 88. Looked easy, got everything together, put it all on and found so many complications. Took 3 of us about 10 hours to fit it, but that did include making the steering extension, and cutting some of the blocks. I think you'll find it be cheaper to buy one then pay someone to make one for you. You also need to get all the right bolts, which can sometimes come to half the cost of a lift kit.

after doing some research I have found some interesting info:

I read that the BYB lift may produce slight angles causing issues with axles maybe? Seems to be very well made and sturdy.

I also noticed that the BYB lift comes with extenders for steering and struts

as for the hi rise lift and the SJR lift, i dont know what their lifts come with or what makes them different.

i have been unable to get any info from SJR and hi rise

Does anyone have any info to share?
