EA82 bolt to an EA81 trans?

Featured Replies

hi,

I'd like to know if an EA82 engine (OHC) will bolt

to a transmission that an EA81 was previously

bolted up to? Are the bellhousings on EA81 and

EA82 the same?

Rich

Yess an EA82 will bolt up to an EA81. People who own EA81 4wd cars, tend to bolt up a EA82 5-speed dual range tranny for the better gearing for freeway driving and such.

Is this a direct bolt up? I'm gettting a EA82 4WD 5 speed to swap into my auto '84 GL 4WD wagon. I'm also curious if I can swap in the front axles too, how about the clutch pedal also, will it swap in?

I hate to thread hijack, but it's along the same line nad I really don't want to start another thread.

It's best if you just buy Tom's kit. It has all you need to just bolt it right up and go.
