remove cd player in '97 Legacy

Featured Replies

hey, i'm trying to reconnect my cd player to the wiring ( i think the either the grounding wire or antenna came out of the socket). i've taken out the panels, cup holder, ashtray, and have 2 screws out of top of trim but can't remember how to get the trim out to access cd casing. I don't think it had clips but can't see anywhere to unscrew anymore screws except for 2 big ones holding the middle console in place and that doesn't need to be removed.

Also, the radio doesn't work even when the antenna is up.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Would this be a security related issue? My sister had a HyundaiPOS that tripped something if radio was removed and one didn't have the proper password when reinstalling? John

No, the security is disabled, but this piece wouldn't be affected by security anyway. It's just the little edge piece beneath the a/c and surrounding the stereo unit so that it looks flush.

And John, i'm familiar with passcodes for hondas but i haven't had any issues w/ the subaru needing a code to operate. At least there's no code on my manual...

There's two screws, vertical at the front of the ashtray opening to take out. Easy to miss. Could that be it?

Then pull up and out on the outer surround, The rest should be apparent from there.
