Brat Troubles

Featured Replies

ok, so i'vebeen running into alot of trouble with my little baby (81 brat).... so i have 2 thoughts. 1. parts the sucker out, or 2. fix it up all purdy and sell her.. (basically because i bought her with the intention of lifting her, but it seems to be really hard to lift the gen 1's and im no Mechanic.... soooo.... im thinkin i might need to trade up to a newer lady...).... any thoughts/advice would be appreciated....

It depends on what you want to do. If you want a lifted rig, you'd probably be better off getting an 82+ newer bodystyle Brat as it IS easier to lift. That's not to say it's impossible to lift an 81, but it's a bit more complicated. You MAY be able to find a cheap gen 2 brat, then you'd be able to keep both. (If room permits) Working on these cars isn't too bad, fabricating is a little tougher.

Well if you do decide to part it let me know. I am always looking for parts for my 78 Brat.

Well, i picked her up pretty cheap, so i knew i'd have alot of work to do, which i was actually pretty excited about.... my first dilema was a wiring harness, which i got worked out. So now, my biggest concern is the interior, which im actually looking forward to starting from scratch on.... HOWEVER, i bought her with intentions of putting a hefty lift on her, not realizing that the gen 1's practially require Masters Degree in "All things subaru" to be able to lift, and i sir, am no mechanic.... which brings me to my dilema of weather or not to keep restoring my baby, or get her to a better home and start again with a gen 2 for easy lifting.... these are my troubles in a nut shell.:horse:
