2000 Impreza Outback Stereo

Featured Replies

Does the factory AM/FM cassette with single CD

play Mp3's . Looking to buy the Impreza today

and never thought about it till now.

Anyone know the spec's on the stereo ?

Thanks

Richard

Well I am not a big music buff, but check the owners manual . it will tell you which stereos play MP3 or check with the local dealer

Nope, Its pretty poor at playing any burned CD and it definitly doesn't play MP3 CD's. Wal-Mart has a sony on clearnce for $60 which does and it has a 1/8" inpot on the back...its pretty easy to swap into the Impreza, just got to get a bin for where the CD player is coming out of. About $15 from Subaru.

or if you already have an Ipod you can always adapt that. I have been playing with one I bought broken as everything to fix them is easily available on the web. A battery is only $15 for the 20 gig I have. An Itrip came with it which does not seem to offer as much quality as I like but sure was an easy install. I plan to hardwire an Ipod into my other car next week to see how that works out. You can buy adapters from Crutchfield for most models.

With 20 gigs of music it is almost like having my own radio station on shuffle, with no commercials too.

I was hoping it would do Mp3's....but I'll just live

without that feature, for a while at least. Just

brought the Impreza Outback home. One owner,

132K, in right good condition. Only minor problem is

many small paint nicks on the hood. Either a repaint

or paint flat black on the front edge and down to the

scoops and back to windshield. The inside door handles

are stained from dirty hands, dunno if it will clean off.

New handles (grey) would be nice to find. Owner recently

did the timing belts (2.2L). Transmission fluid looks original

because it looks like it needs to be changed.

Oh well, now I gotta new toy...I got too many toys the

wife says.

Thanks for the replies.
