October 21, 200619 yr I have a 96 legacy outback and everytime i need to take it out of park i have to press the the button in the front with a screwdriver, is there a way to fix it ?
October 21, 200619 yr Are you pressing on the brake when you try to take it out of park? Sounds like there's some issue with the setup that normally energizes a solenoid when the key is on and the brake is pressed and the lever is in park. The first question would be can you hear the 'click' when pressing the brake under these conditions?

October 21, 200619 yr Author Im also getting a clunking noise frome the rear axle when i turn the car, would this be torque bind ? I bought the car for $250 because of blown head gaskets and just started driving the car today. everything is working good except the shiffter and the clunking coming from the back. The owner before me was also driving the car around on the temp tire in the back.
October 21, 200619 yr Could be, make sure all tires are the same and have the proper pressure. Try putting in the FWD fuse and see if the FWD light comes on and the problem goes away. If so flush the trans. I have an extra shifer assy if you want it. $20+shipping from CO. Lmdew@hotmail.com
October 21, 200619 yr Author I did the tranny flush added 24 oz s of lucas trans fix and the torque bind isnt as bad,now just have to get the shifter worked out.
