govenor gear?

hi, im new to the board, i have an 83 wagon turbo automatic push button 4wd. i bought it for 200$ and its in mint cond has 94k original miles and no damage. the only problem it has is about every 6-9 months it tears up a govenor gear, has anyone else had any issues with this or know how to fix it:confused: ? i looked around the site and could not find anything helpfull. also just out of quriosity how much boost do these things push stock? this is my first subaru. im a mechanic and have been for about 8yrs but i work at a ford dealership so this subaru thing is new to me. any help would be greatly appreciated:) . thanks.

Sadly, this indicates the governor drive gear inside the transmission is damaged. It can't be replaced without removing and dismantleing the transmission. Your best bet is to find anther tranny. Or even better - just put a 5 speed dual range into it. Easier to find, and many, many times more reliable that the 3AT.
