The blower went dead. A search showed several possibilities.

 

One was the resistor block but it seems OK because all 4 speeds are gone. If it was the resistor only the high would work.

 

I checked the fuses and replaced them with new ones and still no fan.

 

I can hear the relay click but I still think this may be the cause.

 

Exactly where is the blower relay on a 98 GT Legacy and where is a good source for these?

 

I plan on doing this next week when it warms up a bit in Chicago.

I'd check for power at the fan. If its there, the fan is bad.

Mine quit a few years back, and it was nothing but the connector loose at the fan. I just wiggled it a little bit and it started working and has not quit again, maybe you can be as lucky.

For those of you wondering how it all turned out, it turned out OK.

 

I took out my trusty Haynes manual and went through step by step.

 

Took out glove box and checked for power at the blower. 11.5 volts. Not bad. It went on and off with the key and switch. Wires fuse, switch and relay were OK. It said to ground the black/yellow wire to check for bad ground. Nothing. Must be the motor.

 

Tried it on the battery and dead. I tried it a few more times and nothing. And then it started working! It must have been a dead spot on the brushes.

 

It is now all together now and working!
