Fuel filter maintenance question

Featured Replies

just purchased my 2001 Outback ...I can not find any info on replacing the fuel filter from the owners manual in the glove box...there is also no mention of it under the "recommended maintenance" from the dealer...is this "kinda" a life time filter like the tranny screw-on filter

Hello, not sure about '01, but I have a '96 and an '00 and the fuel filter for both is in the same place as shown in pic below. It's about $20 for a new OE filter (which is silver, the black on in the pic is not OE). AFAIK it is not a 'lifetime' part.

Nice picture. Keep it for future reference. 90 to 04 legacy/Outbacks are here. Impreza / OBS up to 05 are here also. As are 98-05 Foresters. It's either a 30K or 60K (miles that is ) replacement item depending on which maintenance schedule you choose, regular usage or severe usage.

After that, they went to a tank filter, as on the WRX and Turbo's. That's a real pain to replace. And YES it is still a maintenance item.

the 30-60k filter change seems to be in line with my 86 turbo...
