November 30, 200619 yr I recently got myself an 86 brat. If needed a clutch replaced in it. I have the clutch will install it this weekend. My question is. I was looking at the car last night, and the shifter broke free from the tranny where it bolts onto the piece comming out of the tranny. It is broken in half. Is this an easy to repair part, or will the transmition have to be taken apart to fix this? JDW
November 30, 200619 yr It's broken where? If it's just the linkage then no you don't have to take the tranny apart. GD
November 30, 200619 yr Author There is a round cylender shaped piece comming out of the tranny, bolts into the bottom of the shifter. the cylender shaped part is broken.
November 30, 200619 yr There is a round cylender shaped piece comming out of the tranny, bolts into the bottom of the shifter. the cylender shaped part is broken. Actually that cylinder (the shift rod) is pinned to the shifter assembly. I highly doubt it's actually broken. Take another look. There's a roll-pin - it's probably come out or something. Or are you talking about the pivot "ear" that the gear shift slips down into? Although I can't see how that could break..... A picture would be good. GD
November 30, 200619 yr I am not sure how to add pics, any way I could send them to you? Sure - you can send them to my email, or find me on messenger: cropperr(at)comcast.net MSN: rick_cropper(at)hotmail.com replace (at) with @ GD
December 1, 200619 yr Author Well appearently my transmition likage is broken in half. So I either need a linkage adapter, or if any locals in or around dallas/fort worth texas might know where I can get a new tranny that would be great.
