December 12, 200619 yr Hi there. Does anybody know, what is the maximum wheel size one can use on outback 97`? Maybe, someone knows a site of any photoes with some bigger weels then the standart ones on outback 97`? If i take the wheel 17'', what tires should i use? Thanks ideas
December 12, 200619 yr if you really wanted you could run 20's provided you have the right offset and bolt pattern. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html Use that to figure out what tire size you need to keep the overall diameter the same. For example, a 205/50-16 and a 185/70-14 have about the same diameter but the 16" tire has a shorter sidewall. This: http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible.html Explains how tire sizes work if you didn't know.
December 12, 200619 yr You can run a 17" wheel and tire, but I'm not sure of the exact sizes you can fit. I ran the stock STi wheels and tires on my 95 and had to run a thin spacer in the rear. Those were 225/45R17 Anything taller than the 45 would have rubbed the bottom of the spring purch as well. I have not tried the wheels from my 05 LGT on it yet as they are 205/45R17, but I'm thinking they would fit without the spacer.
