December 12, 200619 yr I need a new external voltage regulator. The numbers on mine TL1Z-94E 12V 011 It is a hitachi. I can't find this hitachi part. I did find a straight 94 (without the E on the end). Not sure what the E means though. I can't find a cross reference out there for this one. In doing a part search at different vendors, I come up with a gaggle of different regulators. Can anyone recommend one that will work? Brand and part number would be helpful.
December 12, 200619 yr How about Subaru 42989 1910? Any 77-81 sube will have one. OR http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carcode,1268276,parttype,4884,EPIsubcategory[1435],Voltage%2BRegulator,partGroup,18
December 13, 200619 yr Author O.k. now I am confused. I looked that one up and it says set point is 14.3 volts. The one on mine has stamped 12v. i hvae no idea hwat a set point is soooooooo, would the one you recommended be o.k.? Why does mine say 12v?:-\
December 13, 200619 yr 12V is the nominal system volatage (as opposed to 6v or 24v, et al). The real system voltage of a "12V" system is 13.2V, and the 14.3 volts should be the voltage needed to charge your nominally 12V system.
December 14, 200619 yr Author Thanks NorthWet. Am now offically smarter than before. Sounds like I will be in business.
