i tried searching but couldnt find anything..(prolly myfault)

 

 

im buying a tranny, driveshaft, and diff from a 98 Rs to put into my 96 2.2 L b/c my transmission took a crap.....

 

the guy im buying it from says..i shouldnt have any problem with fitmen, he said that my cv's would work too.

 

 

so what do you guys think...any approvals or disapprovals

EDIT: what about clutch, mines cable this one is hydraulic...should i keep my cable..or install the hydraulic one

I'm not sure if the clutch setups are interchangable. The cable pulls towards the firewall and the hydraulics push towards the engine. Also, the pedal assembly for cable vs hydraulic clutch is different. The cable cluth pedal pulls the cable towards you where as the hydraulic pedal presses in towards the engine for the master cylinder. SO, if you can swap the RS trans over to the cable clutch then you can just use all the clutch stuff from your original car, other wise you need to get the cluth pedal assembly for the hydraulic clutch and use the RS clutch equipment.

yea he has all that available...i just wasnt sure if it was worth purchasing or not,....if i can still use my cable clutch set-up then i think i will leave it at that......whats better about having a hydraulic clutch? just feel?

It'd be much less work to keep the cable clutch setup. You just need to swap the clutch fork over from the cable setup, and move the pivot ball on the transmission. You'll see what you need to do when have both transmissions sitting side-by-side.

 

If you were to move to the hydraulic clutch setup, you'd need to swap over the entire pedal assembly, which is a real pain.

 

Personally I like the hydraulic clutch feel better, but I don't think it's worth the extra work.
