Yes, internally they are different. They are beefier. They have a few extra clutch packs to handle more power being put out by the turbo motor.

The 92-94 n/a 4eat transmissions have the same final drive ratio as the 91-94 turbo 4eat transmissions.

 

So as long as you swap between those years, you should be fine.

Yeah, the 92-94 5mt's have a 4.111 final drive ratio.
