thermostat for ea81

Featured Replies

I've bought two different thermostats from napa for my ea81 and they both would stick closed causing my car to run hot sometimes. Should I just get a thermostat from the dealer?

That's the popular opinion. Do you know for sure that the t-stat is sticking? When was the rad replaced last? How about the waterpump? Is the fan working properly?

Yeah the radiator is like 3 years old and it was running at the proper temp until I decided to change the t-stat.

Might be theromostat, if i'am not sure i'll put it in a pot of water and if you have a pulp thermomator , bring the water to a boil if thermostat isn't fully

open well before you see small bubbles in pot, It's opening to late. Pulp thermomator will let you know correct temp.

Had the same problem with NAPA stats over the past year in my turbo. 3 bad ones all ran hot at times and one nearly caused an overheat. I finally bought a Stant from Shucks and it is perfect. If you are sure about your radiator being alright then yes you can suspect the NAPA part.
