done in motor or done in oil pump

Featured Replies

Got my ea81 running finally, well ive got some lifter noise, and it seems like i might have a bad c-rod bearing (got some knock under load) im kinda hoping that the oil pump might be to blame, it has a mechanical oil pressure gauge and the pressure looks good but, that dont always mean anything

I have the service history on the car up to 8xxxx miles and it was replaced at like 60k got 110k now, so im hoping the motor isnt soo tired

thanks

I assume since you say you 'finally' got it running that it wasn't running or was disassembled for some time? well, they need some time to get the oil to circulate completely. my EA82 really scared me last fall. but I let it run for about 10 minutes, and the noise had gone away...

just an idea...but I don't know a lot about EA81s, so i could be wrong :-\

Have you adjusted the valves yet? Just an idea thrown out.

have not it was on the list, but if the motor is in need of internal service that will get done at that time.

i pulled plug wires and reved the engine it seemed like removing the no. 1 kinda soothed this sound :( but its faint in fact after i drove it around the block one of my buddys listend to it and he couldnt hear it at all, until you let the clutch out a bit in gear and the rpms drop down to round 4-500 then you could hear it a bit
