It finally goes clunk

Featured Replies

Well after 118,500:eek: miles the car (01 Outback limted sedan) finally is showing some age. The front end is starting to clunk over bumpy roads. I had it up on jack stands, ball joints tight, struts seem to be tight. I did find what I think is the front sway bar bushings worn, the drop down links are rubbing the bar. Also the lower a-arm bushings that mount at the rear. The right side seems tohave slight gap the left side does not have.

Has anyone else had front end work done? What was replaced?

This is our first real major problem, aside from brakes and leaking head gaskets (left side only)

Thanks for any feed back.

If the lower A frame bushing you are speaking of is the ones with the two large bolts that bolt under the car near the door, they will start leaking grease when they go bad and will clunk on turns. You might also check the steering shaft U- joint, they will rattle when they get play in them.
