February 27, 200719 yr I have an '87 EA-82 GL Coupe in need of a driver's side headlight and corner light replacement. The hood will not open, so the work needing to be done, to my knowledge, is removing the grill and playing with the locking mechanism to get it open in order to replace the lights. I have both light assemblies and am looking for a skilled person who can fix it. ~A
February 27, 200719 yr reach up under the whole bumper with your arm, and feel the back of the latch mechinism, ull feel this lever, pull it towards the drivers side of the car i belive and the hood should pop, been doing it since like december when mine broke
February 27, 200719 yr The grill is held im place my three little pegs molded into the bottom of the grill. One on either side, and one in the middle. When My hood cable broke, I had to pry the bottom of my grill up to pull these pegs out of their holes, then I flexed the bottom of the grill forward until I could reach in, and it was a piece of cake to figure out how to open the hood from there. I removed my grill until I could fix the cable.. I can't remember, but I ay have even put a piece of tie-wire onto the latch so I could pull it open through the grill. Why is your hood stuck shut, broken cable? it isnt INCREDIBLY difficult to fix, but it can be a chore. My vote would be to go get one out of a junkyard.. that way, you have a "practice" vehicle, and it will help show you how the thing is run.
March 3, 200719 yr Author I was driving when someone rear-ended me, which caused me to ram another car. The left headlight, corner light, bumper, hood, and fender happened to be in the way on impact. Ever since, my hood just doesn't want to open. These things happen though.
March 3, 200719 yr If you are still unable to open it, I can help on Sunday afternoon. I have the same year / model, so we can figure it out.
