Loyale Manual Tranny Help

Featured Replies

I replaced the input shaft bearing in my manual transmission. I just put the tranny back in the car and it appears to shift fine but when in first gear I can spin the axles. When turning the crank shaft the axles move but you can hold them and stop them from spinning. I have a feeling this is not right. Anyone have any ideas before I finish putting it back together. Help Please!

I'm not quite sure what your tring to say ... ARe you saying when turning the crankshaft by hand, you can hold both the left and right axles at the same time, and they will not move?

If you Hold one wheel, the oppisit one will turn twice as fast in the revers direction. If you hold both wheelsthey wil not move. If you hold both wheels while turning the crankshaft they will rotate in the same direction.

Am i close?

BTW thats how a differential operates.

Thanks for the reply. I was holding one wheel, turning the crank, and the other wheel was turning the opposite direction. I soon figured out when in gear if I tried turning both they were locked. I finally got it all back together and it is working great. Just wasn't thinking straight!
