Ea81 wagon, when i shift into 4wd and lo it goes in fine....but when i drive around a little bit in lo the lever slips out of lo and grinds in the middle (no power) and when i go from 4wd to 2wd(tried it stopped and moving slightly) it doesnt want to go, so i really push and then it pops in but the car clunks bad going in and you can fell the tranny almost jump......wats wrong with it? can you use simple terms cuz im a noob

make sure you have all the same size tires

 

engage teh 4wd when going straight and the wheels straight. dont turn on dry pavement.

 

if it binds up try reversing to disengage

 

go into some loose surface to engage/disengage 4wd

Yep, in my younger days I wasn't as careful when I popped it in and out of 4wd. If the wheels are turned it can, and usually does cause them to be a pain to get disengaged. If it gives you trouble, try what he said, loose gravel, or stop back up a bit, and make sure the wheels are straight.

 

Also, what kind of speed are you running in 4lo when it pops out?
