I have searched this forum for instructions on exactly how you put Sea Foam into the intake. I couldn't find anything. Is there a particular vacuum hose that you would use to suck into all four cylinders at once on a 97 OB 2.5?

 

If this has been explained previously, maybe you can point me to a particular post. Thanks.

Give it a try. Great stuff. About once a year in the spring. Cleans the carbon out, a bit more often if steady short trips.

WOW! That was exciting. I didn't expect that much smoke, and for that long. I went ahead a drove it after the 5 minute soak. It smoked for several minutes. All of the smoke was from grey to mainly white though, no black. That is with 190000 miles on the car. It takes a lot of shorter trips now, but it has had a lot of highway miles. We live in the mountains, and it is a standard, so it gets reved and worked all the time. Climbing passes for 20 minutes at 4000 rpm probably keeps it fairly clean. It did not seem to have much actual carbon build up.

Have you checked your spark plugs...I have no experience with the seafoam products so I don't know how well it actually cleans...I use the strongest solution of the stp products (the more expensive 12 oz. super concentrated FI cleaner..two bottles of the stuff) and after each cleaning I have to change the plugs because they are now pitch black from the piston tops being cleaned etc...I also "crack" open (a very small amount) the exhaust flange, (where the "Y" meets together)..you would be surprised how black that sh*t drips out of the flange ...done this way, hopefully trying to avoid any harm to the cat and the front 02 sensor by installing another 02 sensor taken from another car that did not function properly ...
