November 30, 200322 yr I've heard from some people that all 4 cyl XT's have a 3.7 final drive. I've heard from other people that the nonturbos have 3.9, just like sedans and wagons. So, which is true- do they all have 3.7? And if they all have a 3.7 final drive- are the transmissions the same as a turbo? The reason I ask is because I have a bad CV joint on an 88 2WD XT with a manual, and I really need to know if it's a 23 spline or a 25 spline.
November 30, 200322 yr Morning.... Your XT being 2WD ,5 speed, Non-Turbo, Should have a 23 spline axles..... Auto may have 25, I personally have never delt with 2WD Auto on one yet...... Hope it Helps, As always, once you have the fresh axle stuff it on the trans first before install just to be double sure...... Later, John in Oregon....
November 30, 200322 yr all the autos except for full time turbo have 23 splines. jim's 4wd xt turbo had a bad diff, and we swapped in a 2wd auto that fit the same
