strut help

Featured Replies

so i had everything on my brat for my lift and am putting the lower ball joint back in and the strut on the driver side of my brat will not compress... any ideas? do i just need to bite the bullet and buy a set of new ones? or did it spin and lock or something?

You are probably going to have to use more than just your strength to get it to compress enough to go in. Like a floor jack and a piece of wood on the hub.

I was using a floor jack and it was just lifting the whole body off of the jack stands...

quite a ways, what worries me though is my strut on this side is not compressing at all where as the one on the other side actually compressed?

That could be one of two things. The other one could be bad, or that one could be stuck

if it is lifting the body that should be enough weight to compress the strut right? is there any other way to pull the ball joint in?

I would assume it would, I've changed ball joints by the jack method and it compresses the spring.

When I changed out the struts on them. I'd leave the ball joint in, remove the strut from the knuckle, and disconnect the sway bar on that side to let it drop the lca more, bolt the strut to the tower and work it into the hole on the knuckle.
