New user, same old problems

Featured Replies

I have a 91 loyale that I just bought on Friday when I drove it home it got hot but not crazy hot but then it started smoking so I filled it up with anti freeze and it ran fine for about 100 miles and then it got really hot and then it cooled down and then super hot again, so I filled it up with water and it got me home. I really am far from advanced with Subarus or any cars in general. I live in Ephrata, PA and was curious if maybe there was anyone in my area that could maybe take a look at it for me? Or at least let me know of easy things I can look for. Thanks for reading.

welcome.

Don't drive it anymore until you find the problem.. My experience has been that you will need headgaskets. Maybe not immediatly, but probably sooner than later. Subaru + overheat with low coolant = very bad.

Take a look around here, there are lots of coolant system threads, (some farely recent) with what to check, look for, etc.
