EA81 clutch fork return spring

Featured Replies

Did i mess up? I just read another post and it sounds like there is supposed to be a clutch cable return spring so that the TO bearing is not riding on the clutch fingers all the time. Well the way mine is set up right now i have the TO bearing riding on the clutch fingers all the time cause i thought that was how it was designed to be. I didnt see any spring that was supposed to return the clutch fork to position other than the clutch fingers.

The spring attaches to the fork lever at the cable end, running between the end of the fork lever and the bell housing, so its easy to replace.

Does anyone have a picture of this? My car started life as an auto so do i have the other end that the spring attaches to on the bellhousing already?

You should- I think there is a tiny hole in either the lifting eye or the pitch stopper mount.

i have found that using a much larger spring gives a better clutch feel, and helps counteract the fact that the pedal bushings/cable are usually worn, but that is just personal preference.

You should be able to find the spring on a DL in the junkyard, as the DLs did not have the Hill Holder (Which acted as the return spring on so-equipped cars..)

Not to highjack but I too would like to see a picture of this. My hill holder is disabled and want to make sure I got this thing right.
