A/M pistons/sleeves for EJ22T???

Featured Replies

Who makes good aftermarket pistons and sleeves for the EJ22T? Looking to build an engine for my '99 OBS and want to get the specifics before I start buying stuff for the build/swap...

Should I use the phase II 2.2 heads that I already have, or should I use the 2.2T heads that came with the engine I am building? 2.5 DOHC maybe?....

Thanks,

Austin

No real need to sleeve an ej22t block unless it is scored beyond belief. Darton makes sleeves.Wiesco makes pistons for that. I would personally go with the heads that would best suite its intended purpose. Ej25 heads would be really nice for lots of power.

I would think, for a daily driver, you might want heads that are non-interference, I know I would............of course it all comes down to what you put in there for pistons.

We *must* remember: the more you take out power wise, the shorter the life.

There is an extra timing belt, well, I would call it a guide, some might call it a shield, when you equip one of these engines with a manual transmission (it goes around the crank belt sprocket).

How about heads from a WRX? would that be good? Just trowning that option in, I don't know about fit or operation, but it may be worth a look... anybody else know if it is a good idea?
