December 5, 200322 yr I have been reading a bunch about using this "Maxlife" oil in cars over 100,000 miles. It does not seem that much more expensive than regular oil, anyone have an opnion on this?
December 5, 200322 yr Unknown to me, but that doesn't mean it isn't good. I would prefer to trust Mobil or Redline. IN fact I have the former in my engine and the latter in the transmission!
December 5, 200322 yr I have been running Max life 10w40 in my 89 Chevy 2500 for about 3 years now. I CAN say that this oil has been the best stuff for it! It is my old trusty work horse and of course it burns alittle oil , but with regular oils I would burn thru it at about 1 quart a month . With the maxlife I have cut that in half and petersons 4 wheel drive and 4x4 magazine all did revues on it when it 1st came out and gave it high marks . I am going to chnage over to Castrol High mileage formula, the equivalent of maxlife , as I have been running regular castrol religiously in my VW , and I want to run it in all my cars. My subaru , VW an Chevy truck.
December 5, 200322 yr Doesn't Valvoline make Maxlife? I really like Valvoline. I have trusted it for years.
December 7, 200322 yr Author Sorry, I should have clairfied, yes, Valvoline makes the line of MaxLife oils.
December 7, 200322 yr It was an OK oil then they reformulated it and bye bye moly. Ordinary additive package now and the basestiock is nothing to write home about. You can buy far better oil for same or cheaper. Search for Valvoline on BITOG for more info.
