85 Gl rear strut, help ????

Featured Replies

i have a 85 Gl 4x4 wagon, i cant seem to locate a rear strut cartridge, advance auto has them for 79.95 each. ouch. their is a 92 loyale 4x4 at the junk yard, they look the same . but all the listings say the 85 and 86 are different from 87 thru 94. does anyone have a cheaper source for new... thanks...

The reason you're having trouble finding them for the 85 is because they had adjustable spring seats, which all of the replacements don't have. I'm not completely sure if the 87 and up will fit but if they do it might lower the rear a little bit.

There are KYB GR2's available however

the new ones will fit fine, and are the same length as the adjustable ones in the lowest position. so if you've got them adjusted up.....it'll lower it, otherwise it'll be the same.

If you get struts for a 2wd it will actually give you a bit of a lift. The 2wd struts have a higher spring perch. But any Rear strut for any 85-94 EA82 will bolt in.
