I have an 88 subaru dl , I want to install an aftermarket tachometer, my car doesn't have a factory one. Can some one tell me the best way to hook it up without messing anything up, what to splice into for the distributor(green wire on tach , any help would be appreciated , please email me at removed

You can get some tachs that have an inductive pickup that clamps over a plug wire... I've got one in my Brat and it seems to work OK... It's stopped working now because I disconnected the battery and it reset something inside it (it's a digital not analog tach)

When I put a tach in my 83, the black wire was ground, red was tapped into a "when key is on" hot, white tapped into a wire that was hot when the gauge lights were on, and the green wire to the positive side of the coil. Hope that helps.
