sub97
Hello everybody, I have a problem with my 97 Legacy Outback that's driving me crazy. About 4 months ago the power windows starting working only intermittently. Here is what I have figured out so far - when I first start the car (or just turn the key to accessory) none of the windows work and the LED does not come on on the panel - after warming the car up for 10-15 minutes the LED will light up but when I activate the window to go down, nothing happens except the LED blinks off (short?) - If I turn the heat up and the fan on, and the car gets good and warm, the windows work. I had the car in about 4 months ago to get the heating core changed. I believe the problem started around this time but can't be sure as the wheather was warm and the windows seemed to work OK. Could something have been connected wrong when they were assemblying the dash? Is there some kind of breaker circuit for the windows? Any help would be much appreciated. tcspeer
I can't help you with this problem but you came to the right place. Sunday night I was working on my brakes and when I got finished my brake light was on and I could not get it to go off. So I used the search feature with (brake light) and found one of the causes could be float stuck to the bottom of Brake resovour, this was my problem and had it fixed in just a few minutes. I see this is your first post so if you have not tried the search feature it might help you.
Cougar
I would check for a bad connection in the main wiring at the drivers control panel. It also may be a broken wire in the wire harness that runs through the door jamb. It will need a test light at least to look for voltage. I think there is a breaker for the main power to run through.
