October 18, 200718 yr Hey Fellow Subaru Fanatics. i'm trying to put an ER27 in my Loyale. but how do i do the wiring. any know how to do the wiring? Subex also i tried to get ahold of the guy with the Yellow ER27
October 18, 200718 yr hey J, are you wanting to create your own harness or use the one from the XT6 in your loyale? what exactly are you wanting to know? it's kind of a...get in there and do it type thing. keep what you need, cut away what you don't, fabricate the rest. it's really hard to give directions on something like this, more specific questions might help.
October 18, 200718 yr Author i ment does anyone have a diagram on the engine wiring. but if i can use xt6 wiring thats better
October 18, 200718 yr i would remove the XT6 engine wiring harness. you don't really want to use the loyale harness i wouldn't think. i say that...eventhough i've ran an XT with and XT6 ECU...so they are somewhat similar, but it sounds like it could get messy. you'll need to spend some solid hours looking over loyale and xt6 wiring diagrams to see if that's really feasible and worth it. the more straight forward way is to just use all XT6 stuff in the loyale. with the engine, harness, and ECU out of the XT6, plug everything up. then start stripping the wires you don't need. you'll probably have a few wires you're not sure about, check those against the wiring diagram and ask here. once it's ready, drop it all in the loyale. we have the XT FSM's posted at the xt site. you will want all the wiring diagrams, it's a bit of a mess.
October 18, 200718 yr Author well i got to do something to give my loyale more power. since i'm going to do it. i want to make sure i wont want to do something different. Example: if i pur in a ej22 then later want to put in a ER27. so may as well put ER27 in instead. and when get all that done yes i'll make sure i come here for more help. or on XT6.net
October 18, 200718 yr an EJ22 is the better motor choice by far. i understand you may have more XT6 parts, but for all that effort i would swap in an EJ22. that's a huge project and a lot of time and effort, i'd go ahead and make the extra effort for an EJ22. it's been done far more too, so you'd get more info from here.
October 18, 200718 yr Pull the entire ER27 engine harness. Unfortunately, this harness is extremely long as it goes from the ECU in the trunk to the motor. You will want to cut this down. Here's a copy of the pages from the FSM for the 88XT engine diagrams. Both the ER27 MPFI and the EA82 MPFI. Make sure you look at the correct diagram. http://mshoup.us/docs/XT%20EA82%20MPFI%20ER27%20MPFI,%20Engine%20Wiring%20Diagram.pdf You're going to want to pull the whole engine wiring harness from the XT6. Then proceed to cut it down and remove unnecessary components from the harness. Unfortunately with harnesses from the XT, you'll also want to cut down the length as there is going to be many many extra feet since the computer is in the trunk. Too bad you're not in Colorado. I'd be totally up to helping you with the wiring. I'm great with electrical. Just not so great with the mechanical part.
October 18, 200718 yr Author i should bring both cars and visit you to get all this done. or just bring all i need. and the loyale. i'm ok with mechanical. and i'm horrible with electronics
October 19, 200718 yr If you want to go different, go with an EZ30. More displacement, more power, more torque, timing chains instead of belts, and more importantly, shorter. As in may-actually-fit-in-engine-bay shorter. Unlike the ER27, which had to have the nose of the xt redesigned to fit around it. Same with the EG33, it's just too long of an engine to fit. The EZ30 was designed to fit in the 4cyl engine bay however, so it's a lot closer to fitting than anything else.
October 19, 200718 yr an ER27 swap is similar power to an EJ22. but much more work (physically bigger engine), and still has the crappy 2 tbelts that make the EA82 a POS.
October 19, 200718 yr Author i need the more weight. to make her heavier. i'd love to put in an EZ30 but i dont got that kinda money. and i dont know what i'd have to do to make it work. a 6 cylinder designed to fit in 4 cylinder bay. sounds very nice.
