Your non-spider intake has a single intake runner to each of your single intake port heads. The spider intake has two intake runners to each dual intake port head.

 

In combination, (intake, and 2 matching heads) you are looking at 10hp. Certainly not worth getting excited over.

If you ever get the chance to drive a well maintained non turbo mpfi ea82, you will notice a big change. This design was a necessary step for subaru to develop its present day engines.
