replacement part question

Featured Replies

last night we were rearended and there is some damage, the rear bumper is pushed up + the hatch is dented, my question is how munch is a new rear bumper + hatch ? 97 legacy L awd a/t wagon , + labor , [ white in color ] just a ball park figure , the other driver was at fault , yes the car is only worth so much , and it is very drivable ,thanks

Unless you check for damage underneath, you can't get a good estimate. Does the rear open and close OK?

Drop by a body shop and get them to give you and estimate, depending on the condition and milage on the car it can be worth while to have it repaired.

OTOH you may want to pocket the money and drive it as is for the rest of it's life. Kind of like an "old war wound"

yes hatch opens good, all lights work ,just small dents on hatch , the bumper needs replaced , thanks,

you are not going to get money out of their insurance company , or yours, for that matter, with out a repair quote from a body shop, maybe 2 or 3 quotes. the pricing you asked for depends greatly on new vs. old parts, dent repair vs.hatch replacement. etc...

the damage doesn't sound too bad. prices vary, but replacement doors can be had for 100$ - 150$, bumper covers less. paint jobs in the winter from CHEAP guys, mid-winter half price special, can be as low as 200$ for the whole car.

it all depends on how you need your car to look.

looking at it closer during day light , i could see where his car pushed my rear bumper and dented the hatch , it does not close right , + i can see his license plate # inbeded into my bumper , not sure about his car , but the windshield was cracked + air bag deployed , i was going off a exit ramp i stopped because of the cars in front of me when ran into me , good thing no one was hurt , the cops were not sure of his insurance company , but they hauled him away , on other charges
