my roomate and i put a 92 ej20g rs ra motor in a 99 imp L. it runs.. poorly , most of the time on 2-3 cilandars, and when it decides too, it will attempt to idle. we have been thru the wiring 3+ times, in the austrailian, japanese, and american specs that we have been able to find online. im no expert to turbos, as i stick to wheeling most of the time.:headbang: so i need some help.

when we put pressure to the pressure sensor it turns on the secondary fan:confused:

while running if we give it gas, when vacume turns to boost, it sputters, backfires, and wants to die.

we did hardwire the ecu into the stock wiring harness (BAD IDEA) and the motor we got had no wiring harness so we made one from the harness off of the ej22 that came in the car. yet everything checks out per the diagram, volt specs, etc.

ive started to look for a new ecu but this is a hard to find motor let alone ecu, will just a american legacy turbo ecu control this motor? these things had quite a bit more power than those.

any of you out there have any ideas?

if anyone can help please respond or even call me 206-851-3581

thanx ben:headbang:

It sounds like you have an underpressure leak, my car does this kinda crap when I have an intercooler line that is loose. RA motor huh? Thats sweet!

yeah its going to be fun, its the one with the gold valve covers:headbang:

im pretty sure there is no underpressure leak, unless the blowoff is malfunctioning, ill check next time we start it

What I ment by underpressure is meaning, when the system is under boost it leaks. Sorry for the poor terminology
