I have a boyfriend who doesn't care much for any material object, save his 1992 Subaru Loyal station wagon (manual, 4wd). So, for Christmas I want to get him the one thing that car needs - a cupholder.

 

Amazon has a bunch of cup-holders, but all of them 'clip to vents'. That just doesn't seem like it would work for this vehicle. Has anyone installed a cup-holder to this car? Where would I find a cup-holder that could be permanently attached?

I've found these are handy for various vehicles - commonly mounted to the passenger side of the center console. All the Audi and VW guys use them and they mount fairly universally. And best of all - they are VERY good quality as they were OEM parts for 95-96 VW Passat's:
