Hope this is an EZ one - Dash switch removal?

Featured Replies

I need to change the lamps in the dash

switches.

I hope??? they just snap out?

Can any one tell me if the wiring connector

needs removed first?

or

Will they pop out far enough to disconnect

the wireing connector.

The switches do just snap in and out. I don't know that you can snap them out without removing the trim panel though.

Thanks Wayd,

I never thought about that.

I wonder if it just SNAPs off.

I don't like the sound of that.

Thanks again for the reply and the caution.

Can't say that I have been that far into the dash trim on that vintage of Subaru.

Looking at a '01 that I have in the shop....................I would pull the lower trim panel (below the steering column) as it is easy to remove. Then I think you could reach up to the switches and push them out from behind. Should be enough slack in wires to get the switches out then unplug them.

As with any trim R&R, I am always very careful. So much of it does "snap" apart an back together, and sometimes things are easly broken if you don't apply the proper force in the proper direction.:)

Thanks again. Good suggestion.

Last time I had the lower panel off to instal the

remote start, I remember it being real crowded up there.

Deffintly worth a shot though.

Yes, on my '00obw I was able to reach up behind the dash and push at the switch from behind and get it to pop out. Yes there is enough wire slack back there to unplug the connector after getting it out. On mine I just removed the fuse panel cover at the left knee and reached up in there I think. Nice pic btw!
