January 18, 200818 yr First, he couldn't find timing marks on the engine. Maybe Subie-specific thing he doesn't know. Run away. The timing marks are on the flywheel. There should be a little black rubber cap on the bellhousing center top of the engine. Remove it, look in the opening, slowly turn the cranckshaft with a 22mm socket wrench.
