It is:

IDLE CONTROL SYSTEM MALFUNCTION (FAIL SAFE)

What do you think control the idle?

The Idle Air Control Vavle (IAC)!!!

It is not the only possibility, but a good place to start. Perhaps it has a loose hose? Loose connection?

You can't just dismiss it without checking it.

NOT DISMISSING IT

been there tried that

3 different IAC'S. 1 from a solid running car(mine)

all to the same effect, NONE

and i did resistance tests on the wiring, no issue there either

i also did a hard test of the shifter switch to no effect

im left to believe this NSS is the answer

however unlikly that is, it has solved the problem for some other folks

today im testing the intake gaskets for leaks(soob360's idea)

and im up for trying anything any one can think of

Except you're car doesn't have and doesn't really use an NSS. In fact calling it a nuetral *safety* switch is a misnomer. It is the Clutch switch that is used for the *Safety* lockout for starting.

The Neutral switch is on the trans. The ECU uses it to know when the car is in neutral to provide gas for idle at throttle closed.(throttle closed in gear, coasting is assumed,no gas is injected)

Not trying to naysay, but I think you are totally on the wrong track. You don't have a Nuetral switch that effects engine idle. And sounds like you tested the Gear indicator switches and they are working.

Let me know what part they send you , because the Autos DO NOT have a

*Neutral Safety Switch*

You will either get the selector/ inhibitor switch assembly for the Auto (which you've say you've already tested)

Or you'll get one of two parts for a manual. Either the Nuetral switch which screws to the side of the trans a the rear. You're auto trans does not have one. Or you will get the Clutch/Starter interlock switch, which bolts to the clutch pedal something you also don't have.

I am here trying to help, so don't take offense. But you guessed, and you have guessed wrong.

We make the mistake of calling a NSS an inhibitor switch and the other way around.

Some of us over 40 do that.

so shoot us.

nipper

PS So do a alot of mechanics.

No need for shootin:bang:

If that is what you meant that's great. But How would that affect the idle? unless it's not sending the signal to the ECU that the car is in *D*? He says he *hard tested* it?

I would assume that means jumpering the wires for the *D* signal and driving. Which should tell the ECU it's in *D* and be all it needs unless there is a problem elsewhere.

All the Idle/Nuetral Switch problem combos I've read about are with Manuals.

enough arguing over the NSS/inhibitor switch

gloyale do this for me

take my symptoms and code

and tell me what to try

if you read the post you know what i did so far

and i have tried alot more than ive stated as well

so please just give me a freaking idea of what to try next

i dont take any offense to any of this

but all this chit chat is besides the point

i got a problem and you aint givin me any new ideas

just knockin on what i have come to so far

so stop talking, start thinking

why does it stall out, then restart oerfectly

why the code 1507

its not the IAC, its not the intake gaskets

its not the coil,wires, plugs....

its not the knock, throttle body, injectors

the trans is completly rebuilt

car runs and drives perfect, until the stall and code

think people THINK

monday im putting something in the trans that may or may not fix it

but at 61 bucks its a cheap try
