December 26, 200322 yr If you punch it with the spfi it will hesitate for maybe a second and then rev up, it will also hesitate slightly at low rpm under load. The check engine light flashes. However there is a green connector in the engine bay right in the top corner by the strut, which stops the check engine light, but causes the engine to hesitate a bit more severely, and idle a bit lower. Any ideas?
December 26, 200322 yr jims wagon did that, and it turned out to be a bad filament on the MAF you can take the module off the maf body to check it out' you might need dielectric grease(like for ign module) to put it together, not sure
December 26, 200322 yr yes miles was right ,but it still runs pretty bad , but the hood was off of it for aleast 6-7 months before i bought it
December 29, 200322 yr My '88 DL Wagon did the same thing, EA82 SPFI, w/220K miles. I checked the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) for a dead spot, but nothing major, just a small dropoff in resistance when just starting accealeration. Eventually did a compression check & found #3 cylinder with only about 65psi. All others around 150psi. Replaced both hydraulic lifters on that cylinder & much better now. Also, gas mileage was fluctuating & dropping radically before, but now getting 27 - 30 mpg consistently.
