Thought I'd let you all know of how I cured my clutch shudder issue. The clutch (or so I thought) used to shudder quite badly whenever I downshifted into 2nd gear. No matter what speed, revs. etc...

Anyhow, what fixed it was changing the rear diff oil with Redline 75w90. The shudder from 2nd to 3rd was gone instantly

Obviously won't cure every clutch shudder issue but could be worth trying before you start throwing money at it.

at a local shop here when my dad was rebuilding his xt, the guy said that american made clutches on subarus useally shudder. i was wondering if thats true or not. but he bought american made and guess what? yep it shudderd for about 3k
