s'ko Posted June 3, 2008 Share Posted June 3, 2008 Ok... so I know that Ren.man was working on some adapters to make our wheels 4X140 to 5X100. not sure what has happened to the thread or the source. One thing that I recently found was a program called emachineshop.com. You down load their CAD program and draw something and then you can get a quote. Well I drew up a 4X140 to 5X100 adapter similar to the plan that Renman was working on. The one that I drew up is threaded so you would thread in the wheel lug bolts instead of having them pressed in. You supply your own bolts. If someone else has downloaded the program, I would like to see if they could double check me measurements as I have really never worked with CAD before. anyways the big question in price. Obviously, the more bought at once, the cheaper it will be. Price for 2 is $178.81 each. 4 is $112.74 each, 6 is 92.33 each, 8 is $82.33 each, 10 is $76.25 each, 20 is $62.18 each. So obviously, the price gets cheaper and cheaper with more people ordering. I really want a set of these, but the idea of paying $357.62 is really cost prohibitive. Now paying $152.50 is a lot better. (that's 4 other people buying a set) If you are interested let me know and download the program so you can double check my drawing. once we get everyone's approval for the drawing then we can go for it. GeneralDisorder Posted June 3, 2008 Share Posted June 3, 2008 I have no need of these, or any real intrest in doing this, but looking at your drawing it immediately occured to me that you could cut down the cost of production by haveing them just drill the holes and tapping them yourself. Running a tap into pre-drilled holes is easy. These wouldn't even be hard to make if you just want a one-off set. Get some scrap plate steel, cut the circles out on a bandsaw, and then using some hubs and a bit of geometry lay out the holes and tap them. Yeah I could try to build them myself but this is primarily going into the RX and since I intend for this being a road vehicle the idea of getting the adapter just right and centered is critical. Zefy Posted June 4, 2008 Share Posted June 4, 2008 so for this to work the stock wheel studs have to be removed and replaced with bolts? then the wheels would need to be bolted on using a lug similar to german cars...? this seems like a costly and complicated solution however it is the only way i can see the design you've drawn up can work. if that is not the way you are planning it, then you need a countersink in the plate for the nuts or bolt heads to fit in.
