I saw pics on the 4x4 board I'm on that were taken under the tree.

It's on the Cedar Tree trail. (of course! hehe)

Was all snowy but as of last weekend I guess it's clear.

And open. The area was off limits when I was up there. (active logging)

Gettin' motivated.

Didn't plan on hanging out with "Jack" and "Jim" last night but like a moron I did.

Had a blast.

I showed earlier than the rest so I did a lap before finding them on the CB.

Then we all did some wheeling together.

But on my lap I hit up:

University Firepower. (just reopend this weekend!)

Awesome climb on that trail. Long and somewhat steep.

All the Powerline trails. (except Little Rubicon)

Hogsback a few times. The snow is all gone!

Cedar Tree. I love that trail. Over three miles long and twisty and hilly and rocky. Got the manual steering cardio workout. And some blisters on the hands. First time that happened.

Hood Riser. An easy but always fun run.

 

And some general messing around on whatever place to play came along.

It was awesome welded I didnt have to try as hard to get up or around things.

 

It was a little pain trying to keep from losing momentum going around corners on the street but I have pulled that rear axle in the back so many times that it just comes out in 10 min.

that's called progression, not a problem.

Only problem I've found with my new welded diff is the fact that after two test runs. I've shredded my rear tires goin for those climbs I could never do before.

Actually trying to find some glue to put tread blocks back on fully. (got some half cut off floppers.)

Traction is awesome though.

But I can only afford one set of cheap tires every couple years so the open diff may have to go back on to keep me sedated on the trails. :-\

 

Guess I'd rather hit up easy trails often, than spend all my gas $$ on stuff to keep the Roo working for more hardcore stuff.

Wheeling of any kind is my escape.

Not yet, feeling lazy tonight.

I'll have it out by the weekend. Hittin' TSF early sunday with a bunch of Jeeps. And that would be kind of pushing it locked all the way there.

 

But the problem is not with the wear with the very little (comparatively) pavement time it sees.

 

It's that now I have the ability to go places that are alot harder on the tires and such.

I was out at the gravel pits last night past Estacada up 4610.

I went up to the upper pit and proceded to climb just about all of it.

Even the big ones in the back.

But afterwards my tires were just cut all up.

 

I just bought these, can't afford another set right now. :-\

Although they did say that the road hazard warranty covers off road too......

 

It was fun though.

Just have to keep the nasty rock hillclimbs to a minimum.

My wallet says "give up the welded rear, you can't afford the results."

But I just don't think I can do that after beholding the power.

 

Now That I found out Cooper makes an All-Terrain tire in 195/75/14 (my size).

I'll just have to fill up the change jar and get a set.

They are not the toughest off road tires out there, but way better than the $35 specials I have now.

Ya know I have not found a price yet for my size.

All the sites list 15" and 16" sizes. (about $100 a pop for those ones, cheaper than swampers and in my size)

But Cooper does say they make them in my size.

I have to just go to the shop I got the original info from when I was getting a tire fixed and ask them. Proly have it thier computer.

Not super hardcore tires, but I'm sure way more tough than the cheapo car tires I'm running.
