Tire help size vs weight and gearing?

Featured Replies

Ok so i picked out some tires for my ea82 wagon. (general grabber AT2) now what size? I can fit up to 225/75/15 or go down to 205/75/15.

Now the larger is 8 pounds heavier 3/4 inch taller and .8 inches wider. So knowing that low low gearing is not going to happen and i'm stuck with 1.59 reduction what would be best for not stalling the old girl in the snow or out in the woods here in washington?

By the way did stall in the middle of the creek up at fish lake a few weeks ago with 28's and no low range. Help?!

Personally I wouldn't get over 27" OD tires on a Subaru. But if you have to pick one of those two I would go for the 205's, as the width is already pretty good for a Subaru and the gearing will be better with those.

im running 205 65 15s on my wagon, i take it you dont have a hi/lo manual trans, i usally run in low all the time im off pavment , basically 45 mph is like running 60 mph , i can climb hills no problem, but i dont have mountains here
