shift up?

Featured Replies

my shift up light on the dash (which i never knew it had) has started occasionally coming on.

if it was coming on at the appropriate times, i wouldn't be worried, but there no rhyme or reason to it.

where does this get its readings/input from?

is this a sign of something to come, or just one of those things?

thanks, Bill

hey no harm. its just telling u to shift to the next gear for better fuel economy. it may come on while driving in reverse or wen down shifting going uphill. in that case it should be ignored. but remember there's nuthin wrong wit ur suby :)

probably just a side-effect from old wires being moved around when changing clutch cable, but its good to know a much as i can about my cars different systems.

so if it gets too annoying then fix it the way i did the ecs light.

(piece of electrical tape over it, but i do check the codes. speedometer is unhooked so it gives a speed sensor code after driving 20 min. or so)

good to know it shouldn't affect running.

thanks, Bill

Yeah they are annoying most of the time.... i have a diesel jetta that tells me to upshift at idle, and also when im going 65mph in 5th gear... i think it thinks its funny....
