July 11, 200817 yr What years were these in the Legacy? I might want to jump up from an '86 GL....but not sure yet. Any 'bad' years in the early 90's to avoid? Dont want anything newer than say....'95.
July 11, 200817 yr you mean dual port exhaust manifolds/heads? 1996 and up are all single ports. so a 1995 would be dual port. 1995 manual trans are dual port and even better - NO EGR! i've actually never messed with the older ones 90-94 so i'm not sure. the 95's look much nicer IMO, i'd try and snag one of those, they're easy to find.
July 11, 200817 yr Also no EGR on the 96 MY (1996 Brighton, MT, 2.2 L).FYI not all 96's are that way. i didn't think all 96 Brighton MT's lack EGR, but maybe they do? it seems they're hit or miss after 1995.
July 11, 200817 yr Author Great, now what are the chances of getting one with no vacuum hoses, no sensors, etc.
July 11, 200817 yr not all 96's are that way. i didn't think all 96 Brighton MT's lack EGR, but maybe they do? it seems they're hit or miss after 1995. I should have written: "my" 96 2.2L engine with MT does not have EGR. Sorry for the faulty generalisation.
July 11, 200817 yr I should have written: "my" 96 2.2L engine with MT does not have EGR.Sorry for the faulty generalisation. i don't know, hence the question mark in my reply. maybe all the MT brightons did, that sure would make things simpler if it was. as for no vacuum hoses and sensors, that's going to be tough. i ended up swapping the non-EGR intake off my 97 impreza onto my last project car and it was really nice. no charcoal canister, no EGR, fewer lines and stuff in general. not sure why, but it makes a cleaner looking engine bay and simpler. still a far cry from "no hoses or sensors" of course!
July 11, 200817 yr Author Thats what is keeping me hanging onto my '86. Simple, clean, fixable and no sensors.
